reaching out to those seniors that are facing isolation

Thanks for visiting!

Our History and Services:

Abbotsford Association for Healthy Aging was incorporated in 1989 as an umbrella organization to coordinate and promote activities supporting the health and well being of seniors in the Abbotsford area. Throughout the years, this organization has been dedicated to developing and providing programs that meet the needs of seniors in our community.

Our Society has been responsible for initiating several essential programs and services including but not limited to Valley Alert Lifeline, Abbotsford Health Awareness, Peer Support for Seniors, and the Friendly Visiting Program among many other programs and  partnerships.

Our current program the Friendly Visitor Program is made possible by our funders and donations, through partnerships with other service providers, and with the tireless efforts of our volunteers.

Friendly Visiting Program:

The Friendly Visitor Program has been instrumental in Abbotsford for many years. This program matches volunteers with clients to foster friendships and connections in the community. With today’s busy lifestyle it is becoming more and more difficult to spend time with our aging friends, parents and relatives. This program combats social isolation in seniors and allows for companionship and friendships between clients and volunteers. The benefits of this program are invaluable and reciprocated both ways between the client and volunteer (friendly visitor).
